Designed in compliance with API 594 and API 598 standards, the Dual Disc Check Valve features a spring-loaded twin-door mechanism that ensures silent, non-slam operation even under fluctuating flow conditions. Often referred to as a Double Disc Check Valve, Duo Wafer Check Valve, or Dual Flapper Check Valve, this versatile product is built to outperform conventional swing or lift check valves in strength, response speed, and space utilization.
Our Dual Plate Check Valves are available in various materials to match your specific media and application needs, including Carbon Steel Wafer Body Dual Plate Check Valve Class 150, Stainless Steel Dual Disc Spring Loaded Wafer Check Valve CL 150, SS 304 CF8 Wafer Body Dual Plate Check Valve Class 150, and SS 316 Dual Disc Spring Loaded Wafer Check Valve CL 150. For aggressive or corrosive environments, MVS offers high-grade alloys like Duplex Steel Wafer Style Dual Plate Check Valve CL 150 and Super Duplex Wafer Type Dual Plate Check Valve Class 150, making sure longer life and consistent performance.
Every Dual Disc Spring Loaded Wafer Check Valve features a retainerless body design to eliminate potential leak paths, while also allowing for installation between standard flanges without special adaptors. Whether it’s a Wafer Pattern Twin Door Check Valve in cast steel or stainless steel, our product line supports seamless flow with minimal pressure drop and reduced maintenance downtime.
MVS also offers the Duo Wafer Check Valve Stainless Steel Carbon Steel variant, combining material flexibility with operational precision. From water treatment plants to petrochemical lines and high-pressure gas applications, these check valves provide efficient flow control without compromising safety or durability.

What is a dual plate check valve and how does it work?
Also called a duo check or double plate check valve, it uses two semi-circular plates hinged on a central pin and closed by a torsion spring. Forward flow folds the plates back against the flow; as flow decays the spring starts closing them before reversal builds up. That early closure is the whole point: it stops the slam that a swing check produces on pump discharge lines, in a body a fraction of the length and weight.
Which body, disc, seat and spring materials are available?
Body in Cast Carbon Steel (WCB) or Ductile Iron, with CF8/CF8M stainless, alloy, duplex and super duplex available. Discs in CF8/CF8M stainless, with metal-seated hardfaced stainless, duplex and super duplex options. Seats metal-to-metal or soft in EPDM, NBR, PTFE or Viton. Springs in stainless steel, with Inconel X-750 and Monel for corrosive or high-temperature service — the spring is the wearing part, so specify it for the media, not just the body.
What size, pressure class and temperature range apply?
DN 50 to DN 600 (NPS 2″–24″) in ASME Class 150# to 2500# — the widest pressure range in our check valve line. Operating temperature approximately −196 °C to +350 °C depending on the application and materials. Body styles wafer, lug or double flanged, with a retainerless option, RF/RTJ ends per ANSI B16.5/B16.47, face-to-face per API 594 / ASME B16.10, and shell and seat testing to API 598 / ISO 5208.
Why does it reduce water hammer compared with a swing check?
Because it closes on spring force while forward flow is still decaying, rather than waiting for reverse flow to push a heavy disc shut. By the time the column would reverse, the plates are already seated, so there is no mass of returning liquid slamming into a closing disc. The two light plates also have far less inertia and travel than a single swing disc. On pump discharge and any line where a trip drops flow instantly, this is the valve to specify.
Are you a manufacturer, and what are your minimum order quantity and customization options?
MVS is a manufacturer — building valves at its own works since 1978, ISO 9001:2015 certified — and exports across several continents. The minimum order quantity is 20 pieces. Retainerless bodies, Inconel and Monel springs, super duplex trim and cryogenic or high-temperature builds are made to order.
