What is a PTFE lined Y strainer and how does it work?
A Y-pattern pipeline strainer with the body and end cover fully lined, and a filter element made of PTFE or FEP rather than metal mesh. Flow passes through the perforated element, which traps debris before it reaches a pump, control valve or nozzle downstream. Because every wetted part including the filter is fluoropolymer, it protects equipment in acid and solvent lines where a stainless screen would simply dissolve.
Which body, lining and filter materials are available?
Lined body and end cover in Ductile Iron GGG40.3 or Cast Steel WCB (FEP lined), with options in ASTM A395 and ASTM A216 Gr. WCB. Lining in PFA (ASTM D3307), FEP (ASTM D2116), Polypropylene or PVDF, at 3–5 mm. Filter element in PTFE or FEP, drain plug in PTFE, studs and nuts in stainless.
What size, filtration grade and test pressures apply?
DN 25 to DN 150 (1″–6″), with a Ø1 mm perforated PTFE filter as standard. Flanges per ANSI B16.5 / B16.42, drilling to ASA #150, DIN 2632/33 or BS 10 Table D, E, F. Hydraulic shell test 20 kg/cm² plus a 15 KVDC spark test. Basket type and T type strainer designs are available as optional variants.
Y type, basket type or T type — which should I specify?
A Y strainer is the compact, economical choice for light and occasional debris loading and works in any orientation. A lined basket strainer has far more screen area and a removable basket, so it holds much more debris and is cleaned without breaking the line — the right answer for heavy or continuous loading. A T type sits in a straight run and suits lines where the Y geometry will not fit.
