A split body wafer type butterfly valve in which both the body and the disc are fully lined, so no metal touches the media. A quarter turn swings the lined disc into the lined seat to give bubble-tight closure. The disc has an integral shaft — carbon steel with a stainless shaft, encapsulated in FEP, PFA or PVDF — which removes the shaft penetration that is the usual leak path on a butterfly valve.
Wafer body in ASTM A216 Gr. WCB, with body and disc options in Ductile Iron GGG40.3 / ASTM A395, Cast Steel WCB, and ASTM A351 Gr. CF8 / CF8M. Body liner in PTFE (ASTM D4895-91a), PFA (ASTM D3307), FEP (ASTM D2116) or PVDF, at 3–5 mm. Internals include a PTFE wedge ring, glass-filled PTFE bush, SS PTFE-coated guide bush, silicone elastomer backup and SS thrust washer. An unlined CF8/CF8M disc is available as an option where the duty allows.
2″ to 24″ (DN 50 – DN 600) at a PN10 nominal rating, with drilling to ANSI B16.5 or DIN PN10/16. Designed to BS EN 593:2004 (formerly BS 5155) with face-to-face per API 609 / BS 5155 / ISO 5752 / BS EN 558-1/2, and tested to BS EN 12266-1 & 2 (2003) — hydraulic seat test 11 kg/cm², pneumatic seat test 6 kg/cm² — plus a 15 KVDC spark test on every valve.
A lined butterfly valve is far shorter, lighter and cheaper at large diameters, and covers up to DN 600 against DN 250 for the lined ball valve. But the disc sits in the flow path even when open, so it costs some pressure drop and cannot be pigged. Choose butterfly for large-bore corrosive isolation where cost and weight matter; choose ball where you need full bore, zero restriction or the tightest shut-off in smaller sizes.
MVS is a manufacturer — building valves at its own works since 1978, ISO 9001:2015 certified — exporting across several continents. The minimum order quantity is 20 pieces. Gear box and actuator assemblies, extended stem designs, unlined disc versions and the full range of liner materials are built to order.
