What are spare straight through diaphragms and which valves do they fit?
They are replacement diaphragms for Straight Through KB type diaphragm valves. In a straight through body the diaphragm has to travel all the way to the valve floor rather than onto a weir, so it flexes further on every cycle and is the part that determines service life. Stocking spares turns a diaphragm failure into a planned change rather than a line outage.
Which diaphragm materials are available?
EPDM, Neoprene, Hypalon, Natural rubber, Chlorobutyl, Buna N (Nitrile) and Viton, in screw stud type connection, plus PTFE-faced diaphragms backed by EPDM, Neoprene or Viton. All are nylon fabric reinforced — which matters more here than on a weir valve, because of the greater travel.
What sizes and connection types do you supply?
½″ to 12″ (DN 15 to DN 300), with screw stud connection assembled by threaded stud. Quote the valve size, confirm it is a straight through KB type body, and state the media and temperature when ordering — weir and straight through diaphragms are not interchangeable.
How long does a straight through diaphragm last compared with a weir type?
Generally less, because it flexes further on every stroke. There is no fixed figure — life depends on cycle rate, temperature and media — but a straight through valve on frequent duty will need diaphragms sooner than a weir type valve doing the same job. That is the trade-off you accept for full drainage and solids handling, and it is the reason to keep spares on the shelf.
